Staycation

The classic tale of putting aside stubbornness, disregarding gossip, and straying from societal norms all for love. This is my favorite Jane Austen book so far. Elizabeth’s character is so hard-headed and yet so caring that I see a lot of her in myself. She doesn’t put up with foolishness, but is blindsided by it in her love life. She learns to accept those for their actions, not their words. Elizabeth also learns not to trust ALL of the words her peers say about others they have no affiliation with. The lessons in here are “don’t underestimate the underdog”, “follow good deeds, not false promises”, and “don’t push those you love away.” The movie adaptation is a classic worth watching that steals the hearts of everyone, even after 20 years.
